Goju Ryu Karate International Gasshuku
At TO Strand, South Coast,
29 April 2012
This letter is an invitation to all GKI and ISMAA members to participate in the Goju Ryu Summer Gasshuku, to be held at T.O Strand, at the South Coast of South Africa, approximately 120km south of Durban.
T.O Strand is a holiday resort, with a good security, good facilities, including a restaurant, and with direct access to a safe private beach. The resort is 1 hour’s drive away from Durban’s International Airport, through a good highway. From here, one can explore the beaches to the north and to the south, or drive to the interior, and visit the valley of the thousand hills. Cars may be rented at the Durban International Airport; rates in South Africa tend to be cheaper than in Europe.
The Gasshuku will be hosted by the International Shorei Martial Arts Academy Sensei Arnold de Beer (8th Dan), George Capazorio (7th Dan), and Tony de Beer (7th Dan). There will also be a number of very senior instructors assisting Sensei’s Stef Biagioni (6th Dan) Richard Buckley (6th Dan) and Jorge Pinto (6th Dan).

This weekend past (17TH / 18TH September 2010), Karate South Africa had an all style karate Children’s Nationals at Pretoria were all the provinces were represented and the Athlete’s to try and become the number One Champion in South Africa
There were over 1500 competitors’ from all over South Africa right across the board consisting of children from ages of 7 years to 13 Years... |

| Fourways Martial Arts Academy did very well under the coach of 6th Dan Sensei Stef Biagioni. Early this year in February 2009, Eastern Gatueng had their Provincial trials where Silvio Biagioni, Tanya Donkin, Sinead Erasmus, Victoria West, Jarett Grolman, Ethan Ho, Nicholas Gaddin and Micael Fatela were selected and received their provincial colours. |

| 5th Commonwealth Karate Championship 2009 |
First of all it is with great pleasure that I wish to announce and congratulate the following students from 4ways Dojo, not only have they been selected for their official Protea colours but have represented South Africa at the 5th Commonwealth Karate Championship with style, having won medals including Five Commonwealth Champions. This was hosted for the first time in South Africa, at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg on the 16th and 17th October 2009. It was confirmed that this was the biggest Commonwealth attendance to date, with 16 Country and just over 600 Competitors.
This is the only International Championship that is recognized by our Governing body KARATE South Africa AND IMPORTANTLY they are officially endorsed by SASCOC for their Protea Colours. (That is. No other Karate International is recognized if they do not have the endorsement from Karate South Africa)
